Proper Name of God in English Language

The picture shows the name of God in Hebrew Letters called Tetragrammaton (a word having four letters) which appears for almost 7000 times on the original text of the Hebrew Scriptures.

Pronounced as (YHWH) Yodh, He, Waw, He in Hebrew. It can be pronounce as Yahweh (in Hebrew) or Jehovah in English because YHWH is usually translated as IHVH in Latin, JHWH in German, French and Dutch, and JHVH in English. The translation of Y in Hebrew is equivalent to J in English language. The name of Jesus also starts with Yodh in Hebrew language that can be pronounce as Yeshua in Hebrew. Thus, such name of places in Hebrew such as Yerushalayim, Yeriho and Yarden have become Jerusalem, Jericho, and Jordan; and names in Hebrew such as Yona, Yishai and Yeshua become Jonah, Jesse, and Jesus.

In my local language (Pangasinan) J is pronouce as H (like spanish) and Jehovah is pronouce as "Hehova" and Jesus as "Hesus". Upon researching Jehovah in language in Awabakal is Yehóa, Cantonese is Yehwowah, Futuna is Ihova, Italian is Geova, Japanese is Ehoba, Maori is Ihowa, Romanian is Iehova, Swahili is Yehova.

By not using God's name, people are not making a value to the God they are referring and translators are making a serious mistake. Jesus Christ itself obey Jehovah, if we follow Jesus Christ closely or we consider yourself as Christian, we must also respect the name of Jehovah or Yahweh always. It doesn't matter what language you speak, the most important is we know the name and we must treat it as Holy. As the example prayer of Jesus (Yeshua) said "Holy be your name". So Yahweh or Jehovah, holy be your name!

Why Use of Name is Important?

There are thousand of Gods available, even Satan is consider as God of this wicked world, Zeus, Baal are some Gods. I am sure you know the answer. If you have a friend, is it okay for him to call him only as "Man", "Person". It will not give him a separation of meaning to the other Man or Person of course. Without name of God, it add confusion that Jesus is the Creator, also some bible verses has redundancy such as the "Lord is Lord" which is suppose to be "Lord is Jehovah / Yahweh"

Why Most People Consider "Jesus" is the name of God?

Because most Christian denomination believe that Jesus and Jehovah (Yeshua and Yahweh) is only one (according to the Trinity doctrine). In the Philippines they call Jesus as "Papa Jesus" or Father Jesus.

What is Hallelujah?

Hallelujah Means "praise Jah," or "praise Jah, you people." Jah is A poetic shortened form of the name of God, Jehovah. It is most commonly hear in music of most Christianity (but most listeners don't understand it's meaning).

Why Most Bible Replace the name of God with "Lord" or "God"

As this apostate Christianity spread, they used the equivalent of "Lord." A version of Latin "Vulgate". Jerome the translator rendered the Tetragrammaton (YHWH) by substituting "Dominus", "Lord." And most basis of bible translation such as The Roman Catholic Douay-Rheims Bible used "the Lord", corresponding to the Latin Vulgate's use of "Dominus" (Latin for "Adonai", "Lord") to represent the Tetragrammaton.

What Versions of Bible Appear the Name of God?

While I visit the National Book Store, Philippine Bible Society translate the Bible with the name of Jehovah in all Scriptures, even in my local language Pangasinan.

The name Jehovah also appeared in all early Protestant Bibles in English (except Coverdale's translation in 1535). The name of God also appear in  John Rogers' Matthew Bible in 1537, the Great Bible of 1539, the Geneva Bible of 1560, Bishop's Bible of 1568 and the King James Version of 1611. The Revised Version of 1885, the American Standard Version in 1901, and the New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures in 1961.

The Bible in Living English, S. T. Byington, The Holy Bible translated by Robert Young, The ‘Holy Scriptures’ translated by J. N. Darby: Show the name Jehovah in all Hebrew Scriptures.

New Jerusalem Bible (1985), the Amplified Bible (1987), the New Living Translation (1996, revised 2007), the English Standard Version (2001), and the Holman Christian Standard Bible (2004) use the form Yahweh.

Most of the Bible translation replace the translation of almost 7000 הוה YHWH / JHVH into "Lord" or "God", but in the preface or some footnote, some translator still indicated that "Lord" or "God" refer to הוה or YHWH / JHVH in the original manuscript. Those translation are Revised Standard Version (1952), the New American Standard Bible (1971), the New International Version (1978), the New King James Version (1982), the New Revised Standard Version (1989), the New Century Version (1991), and the Contemporary English Version (1995).

Some Religions and Name of God (in the Philippines)

The Roman Catholic Church which is 81 to 85 estimated population in the Philippines belong, and it is the largest Christian denomination in the Philippines, believes that Jehovah is the name of God, but they avoid to use it, because Jesus and Jehovah is only one according to the fundamental doctrine. It is also known to them that Trinity is the most mysterious doctrine they have that cannot be understand. Jehovah also defined as a sacred name of God according to the Catholic Encyclopedia. Protestant and Evangelicals such as the other denominations of Pentecostal, Baptist and Christian (or Born Again) and other non-affiliated Christian Churches (or Born Again too): use Yahweh and Jehovah in their praise and worship, especially as they sing Christian Music adopted from other Churches worldwide.
