Pangasinan State University – Lingayen Campus History and Overview
The Pangasinan State University (PSU) was created by virtue of Presidential Decree 1497 which was promulgated on June 11, 1978 and took effect on July 1, 1979. Starting its operation in 1979, it had two Colleges of Agriculture located in Sta. Maria and San Carlos City; two Colleges of Arts and Trades situated in Lingayen and Asingan; a College of Education in Bayambang; and a College of Fisheries in Binmaley. All the collegiate courses in the aforecited seven integrated component colleges of the University were government-supported and were directly under the supervision of then Department of Education, Culture and Sports (DECS).
PSU Lingayen Campus, as most Pangasinenses know it today, is the result of fusion of then two independent colleges in Lingayen namely the College of Arts and Sciences and College of Technology. Like other components of the Pangasinan State University (PSU), Lingayen Campus underwent difficult process of transformation and experienced some painful periods of transition. To understand how PSU Lingayen Campus established itself as one of the leading component campuses of the University, a brief browse over the pages of its history will be helpful.

I have been to Siruma, Camarines Sur
Siruma name was from the word "sirum" which is a "small, red ant" calling the place as "masirum". It was a great experience vacation to travel far place from home. First destination is Camarines Norte, a 12 hours bus travel from Manila (or 6 to 8 hours driving your own wheels). We stayed overnight in Mercedez, Camarines Norte (if I am not mistaken). On the following day, we go to Siruma, Camarines Sur (80 kilometers northeast of Naga City), and it is our real destination. To get into Siruma you need to travel with motorized passenger boats at the port of barangay Bagacay in Tinambac, or by motorized (fishing) boat from Sabang, Calabanga. It is also dependent on low tide, it means the boat may have difficulty navigating San Miguel bay. This is my first time to travel in a boat for about less than 3 hours (around 20 miles sea travel), I am almost get nervous not seeing any island nearby in case of emergency, but I know I would be okay. Our destination, Siruma is a 4th class municipality and partially urban part of Camarines Sur. Despite it is known as the poorest town in Camarines Sur, for me, this is a rich place for nature lover and appreciating God's creation. During my stay in this place, I realize that life should be simple. I live in a place where there is no electricity, no comfort room, no internet and less cellular phone signal, but I still survive. Remembering the time I stay in Laguit Bugallon, where I know I can live without electricity. I am not bored to watch the beautiful place of Siruma. Next days, we plan to go to Naga, but we need to walk more than an hour to get in to Tandoc. I heard that during the rainy season, tandoc becomes isolated as even motorcycles refuse to traverse the dirt road.
So, we traveled to Naga City, it is the center of commerce is CamSur. Travel time from Naga City to Siruma is more than six hours even it is just 80 km away due to the only transportation available is jeepneys, and when they get stuck in the muddy gullies they have to be extricated by placing boulders underneath the wheels. Our stay in Naga City is also good, I meet a friend name Crystal during the time Checkdash and I is playing around Naga City and our friendship is last until now, hope to see her again in person to talk about many things we missed. Anyway, Siruma is in my heart always. I love to come back, when time permits, to go back to a beautiful paradise. Lastly and most important, I thank my friend Dilson, and of course her wife and the rest of the family for a wonderful experience I cannot forget for the rest of my life.
Forecasting My Family Home – Prerequisite of Marriage
Despite I am planning for a big family, I still prefer a small house. This is my future house that I am thinking over the years. It is just a simple Studio type expandable Bachelor's Pad up to 3 rooms. Initially I am planning just a single room. I will put up my own home, and I won't be buying pre-build or used homes, for a personal reason.
I am looking forward for a small house with a Car parking in front, a huge space of playground outside of the lot area around 150 to 200 square meter. Inside the house is just a single room (can link and add 2 more rooms for future purposes), a living Salas (is this the right term?), a bathroom, a kitchen, and no more. I prefer to build it not on a high way road to avoid night destruction during sleep, instead it is preferably plan to build at the back of some houses after a road. It should also not far from a town proper, to avoid lost visitor just in case, and should be accessible to my family and my wife's family. Anyway, it is only a plan, it is not too early to plan and think right? Regarding prices, I have no idea at all, if you have some idea, you may discuss it to me in person, I would appreciate your time a lot.
Its everyone's choice to stay where love was initiated, I mean the hometown. But I prefer to stay here even with less money, exact amount of living and full of struggle financially. I know I would be very very happy, than going abroad just for financial upgrades, of course everybody should respect other's decision, and I respect others too about choices. Well, my plan is a little bit weird and unique, I prefer a single room this is to avoid my wife to move to other room in case of conflicts and problems. In case we have a baby, we can watch him (I prefer a male baby) grow older. Even in his adolescence, it is better if he will stay near to us, this is to avoid him from doing restricted things like self pleasures. I develop this idea when I compared a family with small home and a big home. Children from small family are more God fearing, intelligent and more responsible than those provided with single rooms, well it is something that money can't buy and replace.
Are You Born In The 80′s?
We are the last generation who learned to play in the street, we are the 1st who've played video games, and we're the last to record songs off the radio on cassettes and we are the pioneers of walkmans and chatrooms... We are the generation who enjoyed watching Michael Jordan get 6 championships... We Learned how to program the VCR before anyone else, play with the Atari, Super Nintendo and believed that the Internet would be a free world... We are the generation of the Thunder Cats, Power Rangers, Ninja Turtles, Transformers, Dragon Ball Z, Gumby, Maskman, Shaider, Saved by the Bell, Mask Rider Black, Martin and twilight zone. Traveled in cars without seat belts or air-bags, lived without cell phones. We did not have 99 television stations, flat screens, surround sound, mp3s, iPods, Facebook, Twitter, computers and the Internet...but nevertheless we had a GREAT Time. Anyway, it is good thing to enjoy discovering the most amazing iPhone yet.
Initiation of Self Discipline Versus Facebook
Lately, I finished reading the Awake February Issue 2012 all about Social Networking and I decided that I need a discipline. Despite social networking is part of my business, it really consumes my time, but in this moment I need to readjust and to "Make sure of the more important things.” - Philippians 1:10. So I decided to put a password that I can't remember anymore from a password generator website. This might be another hard readjustment to do which is similar to what I did last 2005, the time to kill my 24-hour AFK playing in Online Games, and it really works. It maybe easy to recover the password from email, but this is just an step for self discipline.
My Facebook accounts consist of thousand of friends, and I realize to use other way of communicating, I will use a private account to keep privacy. In order to do this, I need to block myself from using this account and get rid of some friends who I don't know. “He that is walking with wise persons will become wise, but he that is having dealings with the stupid ones will fare badly.”—Proverbs 13:20. Anyway, I will be back, not now... when my addiction goes away, when I can only open the account for a couple of minutes then sign out! Facebook destroys my business, I didn't even do my projects because of reading other's wall and timeline, and it add temptation for a man like me. It's the same as online games before, it sink down Codeshop (Binmaley) into poor sales and high expenses, so this is a good discipline to do it again. By the time I am going back to online games after a months before, it doesn't consume my time anymore, I control my games and Games doesn't control me. With strong determination, social networking will be controlled by me. A little bit funny experience and post here, but It might help you to know how to "Make sure of the more important things.” - Philippians 1:10.
Misunderstand – Fail to Interpret Rightly
Misunderstand is all about getting the wrong idea, it is a mistake or misjudge, misconstrue, mishear. Whatever the meaning of the word, it is still resulting into wrong interpretation. Let me give you an example situation, I told someone that I am in love, but she is not yet my girlfriend. What would be the possible interpretation? It's simple, "not in a relationship" status, and strongly fall in love with someone. But if you will add some exaggeration, the understanding might be different. Lesson, Avoid exaggeration of simple words. Next, misunderstanding might be because of rumors and excessive talking about the subject. Rumors might resulted to more false information when It was transmitted to other recipient, this could also lead into serious misunderstanding. Lesson, Avoid gathering idea from rumors , only with a reliable source (the person involve itself). Another one is misconception, assuming things is destructive, you are living in the words of lies and lying to your own self. Misconception might be based from old ideas and just focusing on negative side while ignoring the positive side. Misconception may lead into deadly rumors that may result yourself as a tool of transmitting the wrong information and brainstorming assumptions. If you tell your problem for those who really cares for you (example your family), fight will begin, even you are wrong, you are still correct because they are in your side and the only goal is to support you. Lesson, Seek help to those who cares for you, but never involve them.
Can you interpret this one: "Well, I'm in love, but not yet in a proper time, and I will wait for the time when everything is ready without violating basic principles of marriage... " Imagine you know someone has the same situation, we should not judge..., understanding is vital because we are all humans and we made mistakes. Listening would help you understand a person, positive views and forgiveness will make your way to a peaceful understanding. Communication without bitterness with each other will avoid a fire, a bomb to explode and make situation worst. Accepting the reality also help to realize that you are not living in dreams, where unreal situation happens. Lastly, you can avoid misunderstanding someone if you truly and really care on the interest of others (referring to someone misunderstand)...
A Million of Peso For Education
In Pangasinan State University, you need a total of P80,000 to P120,000 to finished a 4-year degree course. The amount includes allowance, tuition fee, books, projects and other miscellaneous expense. In Colegio De Dagupan, you need a total of P300,000 to P400,000 to finished a Bachelor's course. What is the difference between the two, the first school is an State University where tuition fee is only P2,500 to P5,500, while in Colegio De Dagupan, a private institution, tuition fee is ranging from P8,000 to P25,000 per semester.
Education is an investment for us to get a job, its our gateway for social respect (as a perception by many, but not by me). Yesterday, I am updating the summary and expenses of my last course, and realizing that starting my college education, my educational expenses reaches a huge amount of money, and I still even haven't paid a very close person who lend money for my research expenses. If I could only turn back the time, would I spend this money for education? Not anymore... I would build my own house, it is enough to build my bachelor's pad. But I was also thinking' that If I didn't continue my study, I cannot support my studies too, sounds redundant, but it is... For a simple man like me, reaching this goal is too much, I even don't expect I might end up like this great. Some treated as an unreachable level, but I will tell you "there is more joy in learning spiritual truth and even a million of peso couldn't pay a lesson learned."
Dollars Can’t Pay A Life
A thousand of dollar cannot pay a lost life, It can't also pay a destroyed reputation done from worm type exaggerated rumors, It cannot pay valuable time and cannot even return back the time for the mistakes done. Lesson? You should think first before you act and think what would be the consequences.
Despite of maturity, sometimes we still feel like giving up because of our imperfections, and we still made mistakes, pressures in life is also one factor. But you need to fight it, every one has own struggle, and after an hour of your giving up situation, time will heal! Think about your family how would they feel if you are lost, how about your friends, and what would your creator will think about you? This question would help you to fight the trap of Devil in suicide. So never punch a glass window because it will going to hurt a lot, blood will pour, money expenses will add, and it will create more problems, See? but, I'm not saying that problems are easy, they are really hard, but it is primary that you should take care of your life. It is not a joke, you should take it seriously, so you might avoid and disconnect those who might trigger you to stop your happiness, live happily, because this life is a valuable gift.
